Last Sunday I held a one-day event at the Round Tower in Old Portsmouth to share recently resolved work and works in progress. The event followed an invitation from the Hot Walls team to be guest artist for their monthly Artist Open Studio
I wanted the day to feel informal, more like an open studio than an exhibition, bringing together objects, prints, drawings and books from recent projects such as *State of Flux*, alongside current sketchbooks, exploratory prints and a projection by Deniz Beck made during a site visit to Fort Gilkicker.
It was a valuable opportunity to see recent and ongoing work together in one place, reflect on its direction, and discuss ideas and intentions with visitors. Showing the work at the Round Tower was especially meaningful; since moving to Portsmouth I’ve been drawn to the building’s character and history, and it was fascinating to see how the work sat within the space.
The pause offered a timely moment to review, reflect, and plan the next stage.
Thanks to everyone who visited and helped make the day happen—especially those who fetched coffee, kept me talking, and stayed to help pack away after a slightly frantic end.
